My blog topics include personal stories inspired by my experiences raising a daughter as well as those stemming from my own health issues. Subjects have ranged from orthopaedics to brain injuries to insulin resistance.
I currently work in a combined GI transplant and surgical unit and have also worked in the rehab/surgery unit in the past. Previously I worked for nine years in the pediatric unit of Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital.
In addition to my role as a Clinician III, I also teach two classes for the Certified Pediatric Nurse Review here at Children’s Hospital and am the editor of the Society of Pediatric Nurses local chapter newsletter.
I was one of the original members of the Collaborative Governance Councils, serving on the Recruitment and Retention Council and the House of Representatives. I was proud to be part of the new council structures and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, as well as my role as one of the organizers for Nurse Week 2011.
I won third place in the Nurse Week Essay Contest for 2011, after winning second place in the contest in 2010. The two years prior, my essays placed in the competition as well.
